Always looking for something to ban and to take away one more little bit of joy from our lives, officious, woke, leftist, scolds are now demanding that we stop bringing cake to work for our co-workers.
British authorities are now warning UK citizens to leave the cake home.
This from Professor Susan Jebb, the Food Standards Agency chairwoman, who says we are creating an “unhealthy” workplace if we bring cake.
Per Sky News:
She told The Times: “We all like to think we’re rational, intelligent, educated people who make informed choices the whole time, and we undervalue the impact of the environment.
“If nobody brought cakes into the office, I would not eat cakes in the day, but because people do bring cakes in, I eat them. Now, OK, I have made a choice, but people were making a choice to go into a smoky pub.
She added: “With smoking, after a very long time we have got to a place where we understand that individuals have to make some effort but that we can make their efforts more successful by having a supportive environment.”We still don’t feel like that about food.”
Prof. Jebb alsof went after the advertising industry for creating ads that sell junk foods. She accused the ad agencies of “undermining people’s free will” and refused to admit she was merely advancing the “nanny state.”
“Advertising means that the businesses with the most money have the biggest influence on people’s behaviour. That’s not fair,” she exclaimed.
“At the moment we allow advertising for commercial gain with no health controls on it whatsoever and we’ve ended up with a complete market failure because what you get advertised is chocolate and not cauliflower,” she bellowed.
Free will does not exist as far as far as leftists are concerned.
