Joe Biden made another one of his payoffs to the extreme left, this time claiming he will release “thousands” of people from jail who were arrested for pot use.

But he’s lying.

Firstly he only has to power to release people in federal custody, not anyone in state custody.

Secondly, there aren’t any people in federal custody for simple post use. So, he can’t free anyone because there aren’t any.

Per Heather Mac Donald (my bold):

Even though federal marijuana possession convictions are a proxy for serious dealing, there is at present no one even serving time in federal prison for marijuana possession. In 2017, only 92 people were sentenced on federal marijuana possession charges, out of nearly 20,000 drug convictions, reports the New York Times. The Biden marijuana initiative is intended to remind the Democratic base that the party remains committed to the systemic racism narrative, recent gestures about “refunding the police” notwithstanding.

So, here is the thing… if Biden does release “thousands” of people who are in jail on federal pot charges, he will have to move to criminals in jail for dealing and even worse charges.

In other words, he’ll be releasing seriously dangerous criminals.
